Savannah & Frank’s Casino NB Wedding | Moncton Photographer

It is with a heavy heart that I blog Savannah and Frank’s May 2017 wedding today.  It’s a post that I wasn’t sure I would even make, but after speaking with Savannah and getting the go ahead from her, here I am.

I first worked with Savannah and Frank just a few days before their wedding when we did a last minute engagement session.  I knew right away that they were going to be so great to work with.  First of all, they were two of the nicest people you’d ever meet.  They are the type of people that make you feel like you’ve been friends for years and immediately put you at ease.  Then there’s the part that I love as a photographer – they weren’t hung up on getting the perfect Pinterest photos, but were happy with just being themselves.  They spent the evening snuggling, whispering to each other, laughing, and having a good time.  It wasn’t hard to tell that they were head-over-heels in love with each other.  When I asked them how long they’d been together, I wasn’t surprised to hear that they had spent ten years together.

Their wedding day was very much the same as the engagement session.  The two of them were not stressed as many couples are on their wedding day.  They didn’t let the cold, wet May weather bring them down.  They were totally relaxed, being themselves, laughing and joking with each other and enjoying every minute of the day, this time in the company of all of their family and friends.  At the reception we heard stories of how in love they were, how they took care of each other, and how much everyone there loved them.  There were also many stories about Frank and what an amazing person he was.  Many of his RCMP colleagues commented on how he was constantly looking to help everyone he could, make someone’s day better, and go above and beyond to make the world a better place.  He had worked with charities, was active in his community, and received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal for serving our country and heroism.  Savannah beamed proudly at her new husband as she listened to what she already knew – she had just married an incredible man.  The evening was full of both reminiscing about Savannah and Frank’s past ten years and imagining what the future might hold.  Shawn and I left the wedding that night commenting on what a great time we had, what a pleasure it was spending the day with such great people, and how perfect everything was.

Sadly, four short months later, we received the news that Frank was tragically taken from Savannah as the result of a motor vehicle collision.  He was doing what he loved, being an amazing person, helping a couple in need.  Our hearts go out to Savannah and everyone who knew and loved Frank.  It’s impossible to imagine why such a tragedy would occur, but what I do know is that he lived a life full of purpose and love.

When you look at these photos of Frank and Savannah, I know you’ll see exactly what I did as I spent their day with them.  There is no mistaking the way Frank looked at Savannah and she looked at him.  They loved big and hard and pure and true.  May we all be so lucky to love and be loved in that way.

Savannah – You’re on our minds and in our hearts, as always.  xo
